Ypres, Belgium Trip

On Wednesday 12th June, Year 8 students embarked on a moving  and memorable journey to Ypres, Belgium. From exploring the town’s rich culture and sampling local ice creams, to practicing their French in real-life settings, it was a day full of learning and adventure.

Most importantly, students took time to reflect on the legacy of the Third Battle of Ypres. At the Menin Gate, they honoured fallen soldiers with dignity and pride - laying a wreath in memory of Private William Robert Friend, a brave Dovorian who gave his life in 1918.

Both the History and MFL departments are immensely proud of the students for their exemplary behaviour and heartfelt respect at every stage of the trip. This was more than a visit, it was a powerful connection to our past and a step toward becoming global citizens of the future!
